I am very excited to be sharing this new artistic endeavor with you. Knowing how I am in need of forgiveness and God’s mercy, I am also so blessed to know that He offers His healing love to me and to all people who truly ask. In honor of the Jubilee Year of Mercy declared by Pope Francis, this series is meant to show the love and joy with which God offers His mercy and forgiveness. I am writing a series of compositions meditating on the love God has for us and what mercy means in our lives. These are the first two compositions of the series.
“Come now, let us set things right, says the Lord: Though your sins be like scarlet, they may become white as snow; Though they be crimson red, they may become white as wool.” ~Isaiah 1:18
(The sheet music score and parts for these pieces are available for download on Sheet Music Plus.)
This is the first piece in my “Year of Mercy Series”. It is a simple dialogue between the violin and piano. The lyrical opening section looses its way in a percussive minor section only to find its way back to the fullness and peace of the opening, though this time it is even more elevated and joyful.
This is the second piece in my “Year of Mercy Series”. This simple composition is written to celebrate the beauty of forgiveness and the freedom it brings. The cello and the violin share the melody while the piano plays in the high register above.
