Woodwind Quintet

Currently I’m hard at work on a new woodwind quintet. I’ve never had the opportunity to write for this kind of ensemble before and am having a good time listening to all kinds of pieces by various composers. The woodwind quintet traditionally has the following instruments: flute, oboe, clarinet, French horn, and bassoon. Here are some of my favorite videos of the genre that I’ve discovered so far.

Jacques Ibert- Trois Pièces for Woodwind Quintet

Laurie Baefsky- flute; Kendra Hawley- oboe; Chester Howard- clarinet; Rachel Koeth- bassoon; Amr Selim, horn – all doctoral students.
Performance was May 5, the Lauren V. Ackerman Memorial Chamber Concert.
The quintet was co-winner of the 2012 Ackerman Competition at Stony Brook University, NY.
